Hanner-Sharp Post 129 Presents Awards

Our program time was dedicated to the presentation of post awards for first responders and a Legion member.

Four First Responders were recognized for their exemplary service to the community.  After many years of being disappointed that we did not have any first responders to nominate to the state awards committee, we made direct contact with the heads of the various public service agencies in Stillwater.  We encouraged each to submit a nomination and we received some outstanding nominations that have already been sent forward to the state committee. Our nominees included Left to Right in the attached photo:  Captain Paul Fox, Payne County Sheriff's Office; Lieutenant Matt Webb, Stillwater Fire Department and Master Patrol Officer, Dusty Behne.  These local award winners are flanked by Jim Rutledge, Post 129 Commander and Senator Tom Dugger, member of Post 129.  Senator Dugger added a legislative commendation to the recognition for each recipient.  A fourth officer, Josh Rudluff of the Stillwater Police Department was unable to attend the meeting.  The post also recognized Past Commander, Stan Witte as the Post's Legionnaire of the Year.  Witte was responsible for a complete renovation of the first floor of the Legion Hall, plus he has consistently been one of the best recruiters and one of the biggest fund-raisers for the post. - Jim Rutledge, Commander
